Pidcoke is an unincorporated community in Coryell County, in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 30 in 2000. It is located within the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood metropolitan area.

History

Pidcoke was founded by a group of colonists, which they named after English settler Rev. Richard Burton Pidcocke[1]

On April 19, 1996, an F0 tornado struck Pidcoke, destroying several barns.[2]

Geography

Pidcoke is located on U.S. Highway 84 West and Farm to Market Road 116, 15miles southwest of Gatesville, 51miles southwest of Waco, 45miles northwest of Temple, 26miles northeast of Lampasas, and south of Cowhouse Creek in southwestern Coryell County.[3]

Climate

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Pidcoke has a humid subtropical climate.[4]

Education

In 1884 the town had one school [1] Today, the community is served by the Gatesville Independent School District.
