John Giannandrea is a Scottish[1] software engineer and businessman. He co-founded Metaweb,[2] led Google Search[3] and artificial intelligence,[1] was co-founder and CTO of the speech recognition company Tellme Networks, Chief Technologist of the web browser group at Netscape, senior engineer at General Magic.[4] He subsequently worked at Google, rising to become their chief of search and artificial intelligence. He is now a senior executive at Apple Inc.[5] [6] [7] [8] In December 2018, it was announced that Giannandrea had been appointed Senior Vice President of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Strategy at Apple, the department rumored to have the most involvement with the (now cancelled) Apple electric car project.[9]
