Dervla Explained
Dervla and Derval are female Irish given names, anglicised from Irish: Deirbhile and Irish: Dearbháil, respectively. Irish: Dearbhla is a Gaelicised hybrid of the two names.[1] Irish: Deirbhile means 'daughter of the Irish: [[filí]]' [poet]. Irish: Dearbháil, a common medieval name,[2] may mean 'daughter of Irish: [[Fál]]', Irish: Fál being a poetic name for Ireland;[3] or else 'true desire'.[4]
